Successful Annual Fundraiser Supports Farmers’ Health
Attracting a near sell-out crowd, the 13th annual Wine & Cheese Tasting, held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Main Event Banquet Hall in Cecil, WI, offered the 188 guests a fun-filled evening.
From their first step inside, guests had their choice of oodles of samples, ranging from 40+ kinds of wine, 25+ varieties of cheese, Pigeon River Brewery ales and sodas, as well as the newest vendors—Shawano’s very own 5 Star Lamb and ANEW Emporium. But the fun didn’t stop there, six lucky winners went home with a crisp $100 in the Lucky Udders game, generously sponsored by six community-minded organizations in and near Shawano.

Attendee Keith Heikes (pictured to the left with Rural Health Initiative executive director Rhonda Strebel) found himself holding the winning ticket for the Airline Ticket Giveaway! And, one additional gentleman took home the $200 in winnings from the Money Tree, sponsored by Premier Community Bank. What’s not to love about that??
The 13th annual Wine & Cheese Tasting signature fundraiser raised $13,250, all which remains local to further the mission of the Rural Health Initiative—a bridge to improve and sustain the health and safety of farm families. The money allows the Rural Health Initiative to provide convenient, confidential, and complimentary Kitchen Wellness to local farmers and agribusinesses in Shawano, Outagamie, and Waupaca counties. Kitchen Wellness includes on-site preventive health screenings, health coaching, and referral information.
From everyone at the Rural Health Initiative, thank you!
